CUBORO wooden marble runs
Since 1986, the Swiss CUBORO wooden ball courts have inspired all generations worldwide. The sustainable toy made of natural Swiss wood inspires young and old and guarantees long-lasting fun. CUBORO stands for timeless design and lifelong learning. The carpenters of Nyfeler Holzwaren AG process regional beech wood in the best quality into CUBORO elements. The ball track system consists of more than 100 different CUBORO elements with various functions. With creative combinations and logical planning, you can create an infinite number of ball tracks. CUBORO challenges children and adults according to their abilities, while awakening the joy of experimentation and supporting logical thinking. The ball track system trains fine motor skills, strengthens spatial imagination and stimulates creativity. You can play alone or in a group. CUBORO promotes collaboration - at home, in kindergartens, schools and teams.
History:
In his work with mentally and physically disabled children, Matthias Etter develops learning aids such as special puzzles, simple musical instruments and three-dimensional tactile objects. The process creates the original form of CUBORO: simple cubes with grooves and tunnels that must be connected. Children can use balls to check whether they put the puzzle together correctly. If a ball passes through, the task is complete. The basic idea of the CUBORO system was formed already in 1976. Depending on age and level, a solution can be found by logical thinking, trying, experimenting or touching.
Matthias Etter tests the first wooden prototypes to find a balanced mix of different cubes. A first set of 48 items is created in 1979.
1986: the birth of CUBORO
At the same time as the official birth of CUBORO, Matthias Etter found an equal partner in the carpentry company Nyfeler Holzwaren AG, which to this day produces CUBORO elements with great expertise and passion. In the same year, CUBORO is represented for the first time at the ORNARIS trade fair in Switzerland. CUBORO wins WWF Switzerland's Panda catalog on this first fair appearance as a customer who values high value and sustainability. For the first time, CUBORO has a small team of friends at its disposal.
From 1986, the business develops, demand increases in Switzerland and Europe. Matthias Etter continues to develop the CUBORO system. In the following years, extra kits compatible with the first starter kits will be released, expanding the possibilities of physics and mathematics. CUBORO's timeless design has been awarded numerous international design and gaming awards. In 1994, CUBORO is presented at the largest international toy fair in Nuremberg. A customer in Germany organizes a warehouse and a delivery department for the EU market.
Matthias Etter will hand over the management of the company to his son Sebastian at the beginning of 2020. With the change of generations, Cuboro AG's location will move to Bern. Sebastian Etter continues to develop CUBORO and together with his team and partners will launch a comprehensive redesign of CUBORO products in 2020. Under the new management, the focus remains on high product quality. The basic idea of the 1980s lives on: to spread meaningful and sustainable, fun games around the world.
